Hospital-grade air purifiers · NHS & WHO-trusted brands

The air your kids breathe shouldn't be a risk.

1.1 million UK children have asthma. Many more wake up coughing, with itchy eyes or blocked sinuses for reasons no one can pin down. Pollen, mould, traffic PM2.5, viruses — a small developing body has no filter for any of it. We do. Hospital-grade air purifiers with HEPA H13/H14 + concealed UV-C, designed by UK doctors, from £133 inc VAT with free delivery.

What's actually in your air

You can't see them. Their breathing pays the price.

Children breathe twice as much air per kilogram of body weight as adults, and their airways are still developing into their late teens. The average UK home holds five times more pollutants than outdoor air — and by the time you notice the itchy eyes, the morning cough, the restless sleep, they've been there for months.

Airborne Viruses

Cold and flu droplets linger in the air for hours after someone sneezes. In a closed room, one infected person becomes a household outbreak. HEPA H13 traps droplets down to virus-sized particles; concealed UV-C inactivates what's left.

Flu · COVID-19 · RSV

Pollen & Allergens

Tree pollen in February. Grass from May. Dust mites year-round. The inhaler on your child's nightstand isn't supposed to be a fixture. A purifier runs while they sleep — so mornings stop starting with a wheeze.

Seasonal allergies · Asthma

Smoke & VOCs

Cooking releases more PM2.5 in ten minutes than rush-hour traffic outside. Cleaning sprays, off-gassing furniture, candles, one cigarette: invisible particles you breathe long after the smell fades.

Cooking · Cleaning chemicals · Wildfire

Bacteria & Mould

One damp corner can shed millions of mould spores a day. They settle in your lungs, sinuses, and bedding — triggering coughs and headaches you'll blame on everything else first.

Mould · Bacterial pathogens

Fine Particulates (PM2.5)

PM2.5 is small enough to slip past your body's defences and lodge in lung tissue. UK air-quality data links it to over 30,000 attributable deaths a year. You can't avoid the source. You can filter what's already inside.

Traffic · Industry · Combustion

Lingering Odours

If you can smell it, you're breathing it. Pet, cooking, bathroom, last night's curry — odour is particles. Activated carbon absorbs them at the source so your home stops smelling lived-in twelve hours after dinner.

Who needs one

Different rooms. Different worries.

Most of our customers are parents. Some have asthma themselves. All want the same thing — the people they love to breathe easier. Find the unit that fits your worry.

Parents of allergic or asthmatic kids

Spring streaming eyes. Winter wheeze. Bedroom doors closed and inhalers on the nightstand. A purifier in their room runs while they sleep — fewer rough mornings, fewer days off school.

Adults with year-round allergies

If you reach for antihistamines every morning, the answer isn't more antihistamines. HEPA H14 traps the trigger before it reaches you — at home, in the office, wherever you spend hours each day.

How clean air happens

Powerful technology, simple to use.

You don't need to understand the engineering. You just plug it in. But if you're curious — here's what's happening inside.

01

Pull

Quiet, powerful fans draw room air through the unit — circulating the entire space multiple times per hour.

02

Pre-filter

Larger debris like hair, dust, and lint are caught first, protecting the filters underneath.

03

Capture

True HEPA media traps up to 99.99% of particles down to 0.3 microns — pollen, dander, smoke, and pathogens.

04

Neutralise

Activated carbon and concealed UV-C absorb odours, gases, and inactivate microbes. Clean air returns to the room.

Why not just…

Open a window? Buy a £80 one?

Both have their place. Here's what each actually does — and where they don't.

Open a window

Free, simple — sometimes the right answer.

  • Brings in oxygen
  • Lets pollen, traffic PM2.5, and outdoor smoke in
  • No filtration — what's outside is now inside
  • Useless during heatwaves or freezing nights
  • No protection against indoor mould, dust mites, viruses

£80 supermarket purifier

Cheap entry — limited where it counts.

  • Usually some HEPA, often not true H13
  • Small CADR — fine for a small bedroom, struggles in a living room
  • No UV-C; no microbial inactivation
  • Loud at higher settings
  • Rarely independently certified to ISO/EN standards

Why trust us

Trusted by people who know lungs.

We don't have a Trustpilot wall yet — we're launching. We do have the certifications and clinical backing the manufacturers themselves are tested against.

H14

Operating-theatre HEPA

MedicAir Pro Mini and Pro Max use H14 — the same grade that filters air in NHS surgical wards.

NHS

Built by people who treat lungs

MedicAir is engineered by British healthcare professionals — the same kind of clinicians who treat children with asthma in NHS surgeries every day. Used by NHS Trusts and Fortune 500 healthcare.

ISO

Independently certified

The MAXVAC Medi range carries ISO 15858 (UV-C safety), ISO 16890-1:2016, and EN1822-1:2019 — every claim is tested.

3-Yr

Manufacturer-backed warranty

2 to 3 years on every PurHaven unit, with UK distributor support. We don't sell what we wouldn't stand behind.

Questions, answered

The things people actually ask.

Eight of the most common. More on the full FAQ →

How loud is it, really?

Quieter than you think. On sleep mode the MAXVAC Medi range runs at 15 dB — quieter than rustling leaves. The MedicAir Pro Mini starts at 21 dB, about a soft whisper. Even at top speed, the loudest unit (Medi 8) is 69 dB — similar to a normal conversation, and you'd only run it that fast briefly. Most users leave them on a middle setting at 25–40 dB, similar to a quiet library.

How often do I change the filter, and what does it cost?

Filter lifespan depends on use, but typically 12–18 months for the MedicAir HEPA + carbon stack (rated for ~5,000 hours of running). Replacement filters: £129 for Pro Mini, £199 for Pro, £299 for Pro Max. MAXVAC filters are similar mid-range and last comparably. Annual running cost: roughly £100–£300 depending on the unit, plus a few pence a day in electricity.

Why is this so much more than a £80 Argos purifier?

You're paying for three things a cheap unit can't deliver: true H13/H14 HEPA (most £80 units use a thinner partial-HEPA media), concealed UV-C inactivation (only certified medical-grade units include this safely), and certified CADR sized for whole rooms (cheaper units overclaim and underdeliver). The MAXVAC Medi 4e at £133 inc VAT is the closest we offer to entry-level pricing — but every PurHaven unit is ISO 15858, ISO 16890-1:2016, and EN1822-1:2019 tested, which Argos generally isn't.

Will it actually help my allergies or asthma?

True HEPA H13/H14 captures pollen, dust mites, pet dander, and mould spores — the main indoor allergy triggers. NHS guidance recommends air purification as part of asthma and allergy management for sensitive sufferers. We can't make medical claims about your specific case, but customers commonly report fewer morning symptoms after running a properly-sized unit in their bedroom for 2–4 weeks. Speak to your GP if your symptoms are severe.

Is UV-C safe? Doesn't it create ozone?

Yes, safe — every unit we sell uses concealed, ozone-free UV-C. The lamp lives inside the air path where the light never reaches occupants, and is selected to inactivate pathogens (254 nm) without producing ozone. The MAXVAC range carries ISO 15858 certification specifically for UV-C safety; the MedicAir UV-C chamber is designed by clinicians for use in homes, clinics, and care settings.

How long until I notice cleaner air?

Particulate levels in the room typically drop within 20–60 minutes of switching on a properly-sized unit — measurable on PM2.5 sensors. Most people notice subjective changes (less congestion, better sleep, fewer morning symptoms) within 1–2 weeks. Smells like cooking or pets clear in 30 minutes. Use our sizing calculator to make sure the unit you pick has enough airflow for your room.

Do I need one for every room?

No — but ideally one in each space where you spend hours: bedroom (priority for allergy sufferers), living room, home office. A single large unit (Pro Max or Medi 10) can cover an open-plan ground floor; smaller units are better for individual closed rooms. Use the calculator — it'll tell you if one bigger unit or two smaller ones is cheaper for your layout.

What's the warranty and return policy?

All MedicAir units come with a 3-year manufacturer warranty (the Pro Mini's official spec is 2 years on the product page, though the manufacturer's site advertises 3 — we honour whichever is longer). MAXVAC units come with 24 months. UK delivery is free, normally 3–5 working days. Returns: 30-day right of return if unused, in original packaging. Contact us at to arrange.
